Colorado Vacation....Day 2

So the next day was Sunday. My brother is the music/youth minister at this great local church. If I didn't think the people would have looked at me funny I would have taken some pictures of where they worship. They don't have a building so they meet in this really cute coffee shop.

Their congregation is around 30 or so people. It's great...I'm so accustom to a very large worship service with a large praise team and all. It was nice to go to something very simple for a change.

After church we went back to my families house and had lunch with some of their friends from small group. It was cool to meet the people my brother hangs out with all the time. I love it that he is close to his friends in small group. I feel so blessed to have such great friends in my small group here at home and it makes my heart happy that my brother and his wife have that as well.

After a great lunch prepared by Desha (my sister in-law) Steve, Cray and I went mountain biking. Now I'm not great on a bike. 99% of the time I'm going to get hurt if I ride a bike. I wanted to give it a try though and check off mountain biking from my list for our week of vacationing.

Colorado Trip...Day 1

Last week Cray and I took our first big vacation together as a married couple. We decided to take a trip to Colorado. One my brother and his family live out there and two Cray had never been to the west side of the country (or on a plane).

I figured it all out and it would save us around 800 bucks if we flew into Colorado Springs and rented a car and drove the 3 1/2 hour drive to Gunnison. So that was the plan. We would spend 9 days with my family and do the extreme vacation. That included fishing, lots of hiking, mountain biking, rafting, camping, and eating some great local food.

The first day of course was flying out. Which was great! I love to fly and it was really fun watching Crays expressions and hear what he had to say about the airports and the flying. He loved the take off. It reminded him of drag racing.

Here is us waiting in Charlotte to board the plane.

Here is the view from the air.

Us reading while waiting for our next flight from Texas to Colorado.

The view in Colorado Springs.

This is part of Monarch Pass. I've been told that in the winter this is a crazy drive and you would be best just staying put. We did see a little bit of snow here.

That basically completes day 1. A whole lot of traveling but it was still really fun.

Beach Trip....

Last weekend we took a trip with some friends to Holden Beach. It was very relaxing. I'm not sure if it was just a secluded beach or if no one was traveling to the beach until Memorial weekend but you wouldn't see but 5 other people on the beach that whole weekend. It was wonderful.

We traveled down in two groups. One Friday morning and the other Friday evening. I was in the second group with my friends Darcen and Susan. We got there around 8ish.  This was a place we paced on the way. Not sure why this man has all this stuff but we thought it was interesting and kind of creepy.

We got to the beach around 8ish. The other group had been there since around 1.

Saturday we spent most of the day at the beach. Like I said before no one was really at the beach that weekend so it was very nice. Not to hot either.

Here is everyone playing in the water and the boys playing with the sea creatures.

Saturday night we went to a local restaurant and had some amazing grilled shrimp burgers. I know it sounds nasty but they were amazing. Afterwards we went and played a game of miniature golf.

Sunday we took one last walk on the beach, took some photos and then went back to the local restaurant for one last shrimp burger and went home. It was a wonderful weekend and I hope it's something we can do again.

School....

Yesterday was my orientation into the Medical Assisting program. It went great. I have a lot of things to check off my list before August but I feel very confident in finishing it all. I had a major let down yesterday. After the orientation I went over to the financial ad office to see where my status was on how much funding I would receive from the school for my classes. They informed me that Cray and I make way too much money and I will not be receiving any government funding and I can't apply for the school scholarships.

I'm so very disappointed. School costs so much and no matter what they think about our income I know it's not enough to pay for school. Especially when I quite my job in August and start school full time. There is just no way. So I've been spending my morning surfing the web looking for any and all scholarships that I can apply for. My last resort is loans. I don't want to take out loans for school but if that's my last resort I'll do it.

Please keep Cray and I in your prayers as we make decisions for my education. Either way I'm going to school full time in August. It's just trying to figure out how we are going to accomplish this financial step.

Summer Time...

Well school is over! My grades are in, I made a C in Medical Terminology and a B in Algebra/Trigonometry. I've finally excepted my C in Medical Term. Memorizing does not come naturally for me and I believe that I truly gave it my best.

Now that it's officially summer time, and I have 3 months of freedom until I commit full time to school, I'm looking forward to a couple trips Cray and I have planned.

This weekend it's all about this....

I'm looking forward to being a beach bum and hanging out with some amazing friends. Have a great weekend!!

Lovely....

So we have some random flowers in our backyard.

Last summer Cray would just mow around them. This year he decided to dig them up and move them to a safer spot. I really hope they hold up because I enjoy them very much.

Thoughts....

Cray’s uncle passed away last week. It was unexpected so as you can imagine it was a very big shock to the family. Cray’s uncle was only 62. It has made me think about my own life. If I would die today what mark would I have made on the world?? It also made me think of Noah and Abraham. Do you think that they thought their lives were to short? I mean they lived for 700 + years. Still to them was that enough time to live the lives they wanted? Guess it shows that you only have one life to be the example God wants you to be. So don’t waste your life on unimportant things.

On a side note, I have 2 weeks left until school is over. CRAZY!! I can’t believe it…I’m having a heart attack just thinking about it. Some days I feel very confident and ready for my finals and then others I feel like I’ve learned nothing. Pray that my nerves calm down. Also I have about 7 1/2 weeks until I run my 5K. I’m up to a mile and a half; I run that in 14 minutes, 10 seconds. I’m very comfortable at a mile so I’ve been very reluctant to add anymore. My loving husband has been my coach. I thought I would never be able to run with him because he’s more extreme than me but it’s turned out to be very helpful.
